AI & Apps for startups and SMEs

Production AI features and apps, built by one senior engineer.

I take AI prototypes to production, build RAG over your data, harden backends and ship Flutter apps. You talk to the engineer who writes the code.

Two ways to work together: a fixed 2-week AI Sprint, or 20–25 hours a week as your part-time senior developer.

Pick the format that fits your stage.

Both start with a free call. You get a written scope before any work begins, and you always know what the next step costs.

What I build

From prototype to something your users can rely on.

The same kind of work I do for ChefSphere every day, applied to your product.

  1. AI prototypes to production

Your demo works on stage. I make it work for real users: structured outputs, retries, cost and latency limits, fallbacks between providers, and evals that catch regressions.
  2. RAG over your data

Chat and search over your documents, database or API. Chunking, embeddings and vector search in PostgreSQL, with citations and guardrails so answers stay grounded in your data.
  3. Backend hardening

APIs that hold up under load: NestJS or Node.js, PostgreSQL, Redis, background jobs, auth, rate limits, observability and clean deployments on Docker or Kubernetes.
  4. E-shops and custom business tools

Online shops, admin panels and internal tools that fit how your team actually works, with Stripe payments and the integrations you already use.
  5. Mobile apps with Flutter

One codebase for iOS and Android, wired to your backend, with store releases, push notifications and in-app payments handled.

Tools I use every day.

Nothing exotic. Proven, well-documented technology that your next engineer will know too.

2 weeks, one feature, no surprises.

A sprint is short on purpose. A tight scope keeps the price fixed and gets something real in front of your users fast.

  1. Before we start

    Free call and written scope

We look at your product, your data and what the feature must do. You get a one-page scope with the deliverables, the price and the start date.

  2. Week 1

    Build the core

Data pipeline, retrieval or model integration, and the first working version in your staging environment. You see progress every day, not at the end.

  3. Week 2

    Harden, test and ship

Evaluation set, guardrails, error handling, monitoring and the production deployment. We finish with a walkthrough and the handover docs.

ChefSphere app icon

ChefSphere: one platform, built end to end.

ChefSphere is the app couples use to decide dinner together. I co-founded it and built the whole platform myself, which is the clearest example of what I can do for you.

  • Flutter app for iOS and Android
  • Next.js web: public site, accounts and marketplace
  • NestJS APIs: auth, payments, jobs and real-time
  • Multi-provider LLM integrations, RAG over recipe data, vector search and guardrails
  • Self-managed Kubernetes and internal admin tools

Screens from the ChefSphere app

  • ChefSphere swipe screen: a recipe card for a seafood cheese bake with difficulty, cooking time, servings and calories, and buttons to skip, favourite or like
  • ChefSphere plan screen for today: a breakfast card with 'Cook' and 'Mark as cooked' buttons, followed by the lunch and dinner entries

Guardrails on every project.

Shipping fast is only useful if what ships keeps working. These four things are part of every sprint and every month of part-time work.

  • Tests

Unit tests for the logic, integration tests for the APIs, and an evaluation set for anything that calls a model.

  • Observability

Structured logs, traces and alerts, so you see what the feature does in production and what it costs.

  • Security

Validated inputs, secrets kept out of the client, least-privilege access and prompt-injection defences for anything that reads your data.

  • Handover docs

A README, architecture notes and runbooks, so your team can run and extend the work without me.

A good fit, or not.

Honest answers save us both a call.

A good fit if…

  • You have a product and users, and want one AI feature that ships, not another demo.
  • Your data lives in a database, documents or an API, and you want to search or chat over it.
  • You need a senior engineer for a few months, without a full-time hire.
  • You run on TypeScript, Node.js, Next.js or Flutter, or you are open to it.

Not a good fit if…

  • You need a full-time or on-site developer.
  • You want an open-ended research project with no product outcome in sight.
  • You need a native-only Swift or Kotlin codebase. I build mobile apps with Flutter.
  • You need daily communication in German. We work in English or French; my German is basic and improving.
  • You are shopping for the lowest hourly rate.

Tell me what you want to ship.

Send a few lines about your product and your data. I reply personally, usually within one business day, and we book a call if it fits.
